For its work as a research center, the CIM UPC was selected for this year’s 3DPI Awards. The resolution will finally be made public on October 21, in a telematic awards ceremony.
The CIM UPC was nominated on September 21 for the ‘3D Printing Industry’ awards in the category of ‘Project or academic research team’, a selection process it shares with nine other institutions in this field. Now, a month later, on October 21, the winners of the award will be announced through an online ceremony.
3D Printing Industry, with the acronym 3DPI, is the reference media for the 3D printing and 3D scanning sector, two areas that are currently on the rise due to the needs of industry and society. 3DPI’s mission, as explained on its website, is to expose original content related to the latest developments in this technology and its environment, through a team of experts focused on the transmission of ideas and innovation, which is why the global media is a true authority in this sector.
3DPI holds annual awards where it honors companies, individuals and partners in the 3D printing sector in a wide range of categories, all of them related to the industry and its development. The CIM UPC has been nominated for the category ‘Academic, research team or project’, the area reserved for academic research. Competing in the same category are research centers such as the American Meso-Brain of Aston University, the English Lewis-Lab of Harvard University, or the European Barbara Project.
Some of the other categories are Additive Manufacturing Sustainability, Software or Company of the Year, 3D Printing for a Better World, Material Company of the Year, Aerospace, Automotive or Energy Application, Innovation of the Year, 3D Scanner or Metrology Company of the Year… A total of 20 categories where around two hundred industry entities from all over the world are competing.
The winners in each field were announced on October 21 at 8 a.m Pacific time, which corresponds to 5 p.m, Pacific time, which corresponds to 5 p.m. in Spain The decision will be based on the votes cast by 3DPI readers over the course of a month. The gala will be streamed and can be followed on the media’s You Tube channel.
Together with CIM UPC, our Spin-Off BCN3D, has been nominated in two categories. On the one hand, the new professional 3D printer BCN3D Epsilon has been selected for the category ‘Enterprise 3D printer of the year (polymers)’, that is, 3D Printing in Polymers of the Year. On the other hand, the shoe company Camper has been nominated in the category ‘Creative Use of 3D Printing’ for its use of the BCN3D printer to produce prototype designs in just 24 hours.
