STEAM VOCATION PROMOTION

At CIM UPC, a technology center attached to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, we have the institutional mission to bring digital manufacturing technologies to new generations.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is an acronym for different areas of study: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. STEAM learning integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics from a perspective that incorporates aesthetics, showmanship and a high degree of creativity.

A new model of pedagogical and methodological transformation is applied to give students the opportunity to identify real-world problems to be understood from a mathematical and scientific basis, to find realistic solutions and to accompany and lead their own learning process, thus encouraging creativity, curiosity, personalized analysis, exchange of ideas, cooperative work and critical thinking.

We also develop activities in the classroom of the same centers, to disseminate the technology through demonstrative and gamified methodologies, where through games the students assimilate the concepts of Industry 4.0.

At CIM UPC, thanks to the knowledge that exists and is generated thanks to the large number of research projects it carries out, it offers support to different educational projects, such as research or synthesis work, to bring innovation to the classroom.

One of the ways to generate STEAM vocations are the collaborations we carry out with local authorities and the education sector, from a more playful point of view, collaborating in campuses and camps, introducing technology in areas such as culture and sports.

Therefore, we open our doors in all centers that want to know the digital manufacturing and prototyping technologies, learning how they work, as well as the differences between them and the applications of each one, so that visitors acquire a very close notion of the added value they have. All this will be carried out through a guided tour to make this learning process dynamic and enjoyable.
