Purpose

The Database Administration vocational course enables any technician to configure computer systems and manage a database system.

Using a database management and analysis platform, a database is designed, created and administered. This tool ensures the integrity, availability and confidentiality of the information stored in a database.

With the elaboration of different practical cases we guarantee the learning of a database system as well as the most common techniques to be able to configure and manage the information systems within a company.

Certificate of professionalism

Certificates of professionalism are official titles throughout the Spanish State that accredit the professional skills that a worker has acquired for the development of a work activity, it confirms that the person who holds it has the necessary skills and knowledge to occupy this job, it is decir: he is qualified and fulfills the professional profile for the fulfillment of a profession.

The Certificate of Professionalism is made up of blocks called Units of Competence and these in turn are organized into Formative Modules. Each unit of competence is associated with a formative action code within the itinerary and it is facilitated that the same student participates in all the actions of the itinerary, so that he can obtain the corresponding title.

The certificate is validated by means of the Professional Qualifications with the formation of the Intermediate and/or Higher Degree Training Cycle of the professional family to which it corresponds.

The student who does not complete all the training modules that make up the certificate of professionalism will obtain a certification of the completed modules that will have cumulative partial accreditation effects of the acquired professional skills.

¿A quién va dirigido?

Está orientado a personas con experiencia en el ámbito de la informática, informáticos, matemáticos, físicos, telecomunicaciones, perfiles de empresariales y administración de empresas, administradores de sistemas.

A aquellas personas que desean adquirir las habilidades profesionales necesarias para conocer los sistemas operativos y aplicaciones informáticas, la administración de sistemas gestores de bases de datos y la gestión de bases de datos.

Tienen que estar inscritas en el Servicio de Ocupación de Cataluña antes de iniciar la acción formativa, tanto si son personas trabajadoras en situación de paro (80% de las plazas) acreditando el DONO, como si son personas trabajadoras ocupadas (20% de las plazas), realizando la demanda de mejora.

Priority collectives

Priority will be given to unemployed workers seeking employment (DONO), and also:

  • People with special difficulties in entering the labor market and/or in a situation of social vulnerability (people with a recognized disability equal to or greater than 33%, people older than 45 years.
  • Persons registered as jobseekers not employed continuously for more than 2 years).
  • Women.
  • People who do not receive benefits due to unemployment or who do not have rights. People with low professional qualifications.
  • Young women under 30 years old.
  • Workers in a situation of ERTE (Temporary Employment Regulation File).
  • Beneficiaries of the programs PREPARA, “Activación para el Empleo” and others that entail the obligation or commitment to participate in training courses for employment, within the active employment policies.

Contents

1. Operating systems and computer applications module

  • Computers for databases: Differentiating basic components of a computer, Introduction to Operating Systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Storage systems: File systems, Logical and physical volumes, Physical and logical safeguards.
  • Microcomputer and Internet applications for consultation and generation of documentation: Word processors, spreadsheets and presentation editing, file transfer, free software projects.

2. Administration of database management systems

  • Storage of information and introduction to DBMS: Analysis and exemplification of the different models of data storage in files, Storage in DBMS.
  • DBMS and installation (MySQL, Oracle): Database management systems, Data dictionary, Analysis of the functional structure of the DBMS, Installation of a DBMS.
  • Administration and monitoring of the installed DBMS: Administration of the DBMS, Construction of scripts for the administration of the DBMS and DBMS, Monitoring and adjustment of the performance of the DBMS.
  • Introduction to non-relational databases: MonoDB.
  • Data consultation, access and data monitoring. GUI application programming (Phyton, Node-red).

3. Database management

  • Relational databases and data modeling: Relational databases, Relational Model Analysis, Description and application of the Entity-Relationship Model for data modeling.
  • SQL data definition and modification languages: Analysis of objects and information storage structures for different DBMSs, definition, manipulation and control languages.
  • Data protection and security: Data protection and recovery, distributed databases, Data security, Data transfer.
