DIGITAM - Development of a digital copy for monitoring and active control of the DED additive manufacturing process

This project seeks to integrate a “Digital Copy” with artificial intelligence into MELTIO DED-Laser technology to actively control the process of additive manufacturing of metal components. The main objective is to optimize manufacturing, especially for the manufacture of molds and matrices of the DPR company, increasing its flexibility and competitiveness.

To achieve this, the process will be monitored in real-time (CIM-UPC) to feed the Digital Twin, which will use machine learning and numerical simulations (CIMNE) to determine the optimal printing parameters. MELTIO will integrate this Digital Twin into its software to adjust the laser power, speed, and flow in real-time, ensuring quality. The system will be validated by analyzing metallurgical properties and the presence of defects (MELTIO). UJA will design and numerically validate complex plastic injection molds as demonstrators, and finally, DPR will demonstrate the technology in the manufacturing of industrial molds, optimizing design and controlling quality.
