Projects – Concrete – PRINT & BUILD

PRINT & BUILD

Its main objective is to design and build a prototype machine capable of materializing buildings using large-scale additive manufacturing technology.

This project aims to introduce rapid prototyping techniques (additive manufacturing) in the construction sector for 3D housing production. Despite the interest and prior studies on the application of 3D printing in construction, its large-scale implementation has been hindered by the complexity of:

  • Develop suitable materials for 3D printing in this field.
  • Applying 3D printing technology at a real construction scale.

The key challenges of this project focus on overcoming these difficulties through the development of new techniques and materials that can replace conventional concretes. The application of this technology at a large scale represents a significant advancement compared to the current state of 3D printing, which has mostly focused on creating plastic parts at laboratory scale.
