The latest edition of the NTU Ranking places the UPC as the first Spanish university in the field of Engineering in productivity, impact and scientific excellence. The University also stands out, in first place in Spain, in four disciplines: Mathematics; Civil Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering; and Telecommunications, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities, edited by the National Taiwan University (NTU) and also known as NTU Ranking or Taiwan Ranking, evaluates the productivity, impact and excellence of scientific publications of institutions based on bibliometric indicators obtained from Clarivate Analytics databases. In addition to the overall ranking, NTU Ranking also publishes thirty-three lists by field and discipline.
In the 2021 edition of the ranking, and in the general classification, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) climbs positions and ranks 118th in Europe and 445th in the world. It is also the leader among the state polytechnics.
In the world’s top 100 in three disciplines
The UPC is also positioned in 12 of the disciplines evaluated by the ranking, two more than in the previous edition: in Mathematics; Civil Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering; Computer Science; Telecommunications, Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Earth Sciences, Materials Science, Physics, Energy and Engineering Sciences; Environmental Engineering and Sciences; and Chemistry.
In these, the University ranks among the top 100 universities in the world and the first in the State in three disciplines: Mathematics, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering. A state leadership that also exists in Telecommunications, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
In the disciplines of Computer Science, Earth Science, Materials Science, Physics, Energy Engineering and Science, and Environmental Engineering and Science the University also ranks at the top of the state’s polytechnics.
