Laser precision for the metal manufacturing of the future
At CIM UPC, we use L-DED (Laser Directed Energy Deposition) technology to manufacture, repair, and enhance high-value metal parts with extreme precision and excellent metallurgical quality.
Using a focused laser beam, we melt metal powder (or wire) directly onto a surface, creating the part layer by layer according to a digital 3D model.
Equipment
MELTIO M600
Description
The Meltio M600 is a high-performance industrial metal 3D printer, designed for easy integration into advanced production and manufacturing environments. It uses Laser Directed Energy Deposition (L-DED) technology with metal wire, enabling the production of large-format metal parts with high precision, low maintenance, and maximum reliability.
Thanks to its large build volume, fully controlled inert chamber (oxygen and humidity levels), and closed-loop thermal control system, the M600 ensures stable and repeatable production, suitable for 24/7 operation in demanding industrial environments.
Features
- Build volume: 300 × 400 × 600 mm
- Laser source: 9 direct diodes (1000 W total, 450 nm blue light), enhancing absorption in reflective metals such as copper or aluminum.
- Metal wire feed: diameter 0.8 – 1.2 mm
- Motion system: servomotors with absolute encoders on all axes to ensure maximum precision.
- Print chamber: inert atmosphere with oxygen and humidity control, and 3-stage filtration system.
- Power consumption: 4–6 kW (up to 12 kW in peaks).
- Total weight: approximately 800–1000 kg.
MELTIO ROBOT CELL
Description
The Meltio Robot Cell is an industrial metal additive manufacturing solution, designed for direct integration into production, repair, or feature-addition environments for metal parts.
The system includes a robot with a platform, a safe laser cell, a cooled build platform, and all peripherals fully integrated, allowing the user to focus on manufacturing rather than integration.
Features
- Standard cooled build platform: 300 × 400 mm.
- Cell volume: approximately 4,050 × 2,350 × 3,000 mm (length × width × height) on a self-supporting platform.
- Power consumption: three-phase input 400 V 50 Hz, protection up to 50 A; average consumption around 7 kW.
- Laser class 1, with enclosure according to IEC 60825-1 and IEC 60825-4 standards; fire-resistant enclosure materials according to UNE EN 13501-1.
- Cooled build bed to keep the platform and robot below 70 °C during continuous operation.
- Standard load capacity on the platform: up to 500 kg.
- Compatible with multiple metallic materials: stainless steels, nickel alloys, titanium, copper, gold, etc.
- Dual-wire system (Single or Dual Wire) with metal wire feed diameter 0.8–1.2 mm.
- Interface with HD camera, live 3D model, sensors, and “Meltio Space” software included for 1 year.
