Services – Reology

Rheological formulation and validation of materials

At CIM UPC we have specialized infrastructure and equipment for both the manufacture of pastes and granules and for the advanced rheological characterisation of materials.

We accompany the formulations from their preparation and adjustment to their rheological validation, ensuring that they meet the necessary requirements for 3D printing processes, extrusion, dosage and demanding industrial applications.

Our comprehensive approach allows us to optimize the behavior of the material in process, reduce risks in scaling phases and accelerate the decision-making in R&D and quality control.

Manufacturing service of pasta and granules

At CIM UPC we offer a comprehensive preparation and treatment of formulations (past, resin, suspensions, granulates) for 3D printing, extrusion, adhesives and similar applications.

  • Preparation of granulates for 3D printing
  • Concentration of polymeric solutions
  • Adjusting formulations after synthesis or blending
  • Preparation of samples for characterisation tests

Rheological characterisation service

Our rheological characterisation service allows you to analyze how materials flow and behave under different shear, effort and temperature conditions, a key factor for advanced formulations and additive and industrial manufacturing processes.

What do we measure?

Viscosity and flow of materials, with temperature control.

Newtonian and non-Newtonian behavior (how the material flows).

Materials that change viscosity when moving, adapting to the process.

Minimum effort to start flowing (yield stress).

Viscoelastic properties (elasticity and resistance).

Oscillatory tests to analyze response to vibrations or cycles.

Tyxotropy and recovery (how the material recovers its structure).

Stability over time: curing, gelling and maintenance of properties.

Tests with temperature and controlled times, according to need.

Common materials and applications

Hydrogels and polymers (with and without charge).

Inks and pastes for 3D printing.

Adhesives and sealants.

Resins and polymers.

Paintings, coatings and varnishes.

Suspensions and loaded materials.

Materials for extrusion, dosage or application processes.

Construction materials

We have a specific cell for construction materials (BMC 90) for the rheological analysis of mortars and plaster, suitable for formulations with particles of up to 4 mm, according to configuration and sample preparation.

Ideal for R&D, quality control and formulation validation.
