Additive Manufacturing with Granules: efficiency, sustainability, and innovation
At CIM UPC we transform Additive Manufacturing with a clear commitment to printing with granular materials (Fused Granulate Fabrication) , an alternative to traditional filament that opens up new opportunities for industry and advanced research.
Why granular materials?
They allow the use of customized compounds, formulated specifically for each application: from recycled materials to mixtures loaded with inorganic powders , developed in-house and characterized in our laboratory. They are more economical, adaptable and compatible with industrial applications, especially with advanced functional requirements.
Technology developed at CIM UPC
Our EAM ( Extrusion Additive Manufacturing ) systems, developed in-house, are ready to work with a wide range of particle sizes and rheological behaviors . We incorporate:
An intelligent vibration system.
Automatic frequency and amplitude regulation .
Stable and continuous feeding , even with low-flowing materials.
Vibroprint: beyond the limits of FGF
The Vibroprint system, currently in the validation and intellectual protection phase, has been designed to overcome the limitations of commercial systems in the processing of powders and granules with non-standard geometries and properties. Compatible with powders (< 300 μm), granules (300 μm – 1 mm) and pellets (1–5 mm) , Vibroprint significantly expands the universe of printable materials, opening the door to highly customized and high-value-added solutions.
Towards sustainable and intelligent manufacturing
With these systems, we reduce the environmental footprint by reusing waste, avoid intermediate processes such as commercial extrusion and contribute to more circular, efficient manufacturing adapted to the challenges of contemporary industry and research.
