SUMMSEED - Sustainable medium manganese Steels for cost-efficient applications in heavy industries.
The SUMMSEED project aims to develop medium manganese steels (MMnS) adapted to industrial casting and remanufacturing processes for 3D printing (DED), offering a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional steels. These new materials will combine high strength, ductility, and durability, and can be applied both in manufacturing and repairing components, promoting the circular economy. The project adopts a transversal approach, from alloy design to final validation, with positive impacts on emissions, resources, and employment in the European steel sector.
